Tulsa - Martin Smith
May 16 2009This week we have been in Tulsa Oklahoma for another Joyce Meyer conference. It started with an extremely bumpy plane ride in just as big storms hit the city.
I watched from my hotel room as the amazing lightning show played out before my eyes. Storms in America seem to be much more dramatic, much more theatrical than England.
We've had a great time playing here, in our own way we try and be a piece of fork lightning, knowing that the combination of sounds, heart and electricity can flash across a crowd illuminating the darkest of places. I guess that's why I love this band. Even though we can feel in a storm sometimes we use the power of that to unleash it on what's important, breaking peoples hearts
and seeing peoples eyes light up.
As we sit at Tulsa airport ready to fly home, I hope that the flight home isn't too smooth. Why? Because the bumps remind me that I'm human, that life is fragile, that I'm alive, that I have to depend on God, that he is in control. When things are too smooth we can fall asleep at the wheel and forget we are on an adventure that we participate in not just observe.
Next Sunday is the very first Big Church Day Out, run by our very own Mr. Tim Jupp. It's gonna be big, we'll see you there.
