Sao Paulo, Brazil - Stew Smith
Feb 09 2008Brazil, the land of Samba, I have been hooked on these heavenly
rhythms. Earlier in the week we spent an evening in a Samba club and danced the night away. Now I have to say that I'm a little shy on the dance floor but once the beats got a hold of me there was no stopping me.
The last show in the South American tour was also a DVD filming
extravaganza, which meant that the flow of the show was interrupted slightly. These shows in Brazil have probably been some of the hottest in my drumming career. I have hands full of blisters and hey are killing me, when you watch the DVD look out for the black tape holding my hands and fingers together. I've also spent most evenings on line reading some of the amazing responses to my leaving news with tears in my eyes. Thank you to everyone that has been so kind and encouraging. I now realize a little more of the impact that Delirious? has had over the years.
Now I sit in a very small dressing room in the north of England, a
million miles away from the land of Samba. I will truly never forget
you Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Stu Garrard
Feb 07 2008It was a bit disconcerting due to recent events at Heathrow when, on coming into land at Rio, the pilot suddenly fired up the engines and we shot into the sky once again. We discovered that there was a plane on the runway and he was advised that it was best not to crash the plane...oops!
So I was joking with my family that I might go and see Jesus up the mountain but once again my plans were foiled, last time because of fog, this time because there simply was no time for sight seeing! I’m beginning to wonder if he exists???
Rio de Janeiro is a wonderful place, beaches, city, it’s got it all but the thing that makes it special is the people, beautiful, passionate, and great singers! It was the loudest and most raucous crowd for a long time and I loved every minute of it. I managed to blow an amp up (luckily Lee had one spare!!) And kept Trev and Baz (our engineers) amused with a couple of fine bum notes, one of which was on my looper and kept coming round every 2 bars...lovely!
The new songs are going well, Smeezer’s playing his heart out and savouring every minute! I’m excited for the future even if it is Smeezerless we’ve got loads of songs yet to write and loads of gigs to play it’s all looking good...for Stew and for us...
Obrigado Brazil

Belo Horizonte, Brazil - Jon Thatcher
Feb 06 2008South America. Before I go any further some of you observant ones may have noticed something different about us this tour. To celebrate our trip the crew and myself grew beards and then span the facial hair wheel of fortune to determine our facial hair destiny. We are currently touring with none other but Abraham Lincoln, Hitler, Dennis Hopper, your favourite youth pastor and the bell boy. Can you imagine what a band like that would sound like?
Brazil is an amazing place. It's Carnival season and we have been having a ball. Smee has discovered his latin roots on the dance floors of Sao Paulo, martin has been showing off his flare for linguistics and tim has been in protein heaven. Tonight the d carnival was in Belo Horizonte where the cliché of Brazilian passion, beauty and energy was alive and well.

Bogota, Columbia - Fabio Bayona

On Friday February 1st and Saturday 2nd Bogota lived 2 days full of incredible music and the most special anointing by 5 wonderful people: Martin, Tim, Stu, Jon, Stew and their great Technical and commercial team, which surprised us once again with 3 wonderful concerts that shook Bogota. The first two were in the grand opening of our MCI Convention Center in front of 20,000 people each, among whom were more than 5000 international visitors attending at the G12 13rd International Convention "It's Your Time". The biggest concert was held at the Simon Bolivar park on Saturday afternoon with more than 150,000 people who vibrate at the compass of each composition and were delighted with some classic hits and some songs from the new record that we are exited expecting. It's amazing how God uses powerfully people so special and simple as you are... the best wine was served in jars of clay. Thank you for coming and remember that this is also your home.
