Mumbai, India - Clive Sherwood - Furious? Records Office Manager
Jan 20 2008
If you have ever been to India you will know, it is an extraordinary place.  The sights, the sounds, the smells, the tastes, the cultures, and most of all, its beautiful, beautiful people.

Delirious? were invited to India for the 3rd year running, this time to play as part of the ‘Festival of Life’ in Mumbai alongside Joyce Meyer and Hillsong.  They very kindly said that I could come along for the ride.  The event was a mixture of teaching and celebration over 4 days, seeing the d:boys playing to up to 250,000 people at the open-air evening meetings.  What an incredible sight to see such a huge sea of people singing along to Rain Down and jumping up and down under a warm Indian sky.  The band made a great connection with the crowd as Martin again flexed his renowned linguistic skills (!) launching into Hindi language versions of Majesty, Our God Reigns and All God’s Children – seriously, it was electric, and hugely appreciated.  Delirious? clearly have thousands of fans in Mumbai, and many more after this week.

During our stay, the guys had the huge privilege of returning to the Prem Kiran (‘the rays of love’) project in Mumbai’s red-light district.  The project provides food, education and care to over 100 children in the district, and is making an incredible impact on the community in very difficult circumstances.  The local Indian Christians who work there truly are saints, and it was a very humbling experience.  It was a fantastic joy to invite the children and their mothers to join the band on stage one night to sing All God’s Children – unforgettable.

The boys were also honoured to be asked to open a new church building funded by Joyce Meyer Ministries in one of the slum areas of the city.  We were met with pounding drums and flower garlands before parading through the streets to the new church for the opening – with the Rev Stu G presiding!

India you have given us far more than we could ever give you.  Thank you.
