Goodbyes don't come much sweeter than when they're shared with an army of friends beneath a canopy of songs that shine like stars.

Which is why you've got to make sure you're at the last ever Delirious? gigs . With some friends. Ready to roll up your sleeves the next day and carry on with fresh historymaking passion.

Across six UK and five mainland Europe dates the band will be joining the dots between past, present and future. What does that mean? Glorious worship, inspirational anthems and the sense of all of it fitting into a far bigger picture.

Bristol, Leeds, London and The Hague have already sold out, but if you're anywhere near Bremen DE, Heilbronn DE, Vienna AT, Wettingen CH, Belfast UK, Edinburgh UK or Birmingham UK you've got no excuse. Get ten of your friends together and we'll even chuck in a free ticket for the UK dates if you book through Gigantic www.gigantic.com.

All the info you need to book up for an amazing night follows at the end of this email, and remember that right now you can also preorder the band's Greatest Hits album from Purashop. The album gets its release on November 6th and it's rammed with special treats and goodness, so make sure you don't miss out.

Bye for now

Hey...

Well that was it our last weekend in America as delirious...

Just wanna say a huge thank you to all you d fans that made the trek out to Dallas, i know it wasn't the best event for delirious to finish on but i tell you what, i was giving it everything and just thinking about all you folks that have supported us and loved our music and journey over the years. It was great to meet some of you guys that are following my page on facebook, it was really awesome to meet you...

It was a real treat to have EMI CMG boss Bill Hearn with us on Saturday, he has been one of our biggest advocates over the years and a true friend...It was fitting for us to end an era with someone who began it with us...

So now onto Europe and UK in November... after 17 years its bitter sweet...looking forward to playing as always, that part of me will never die :-)

Stu G, Performance Café, Greenbelt Festival, 29 August 2009

It’s a shade past 11 pm on Saturday at the Greenbelt Arts festival and I’ve just heard the missing link between Johnny Cash and Kanye West. And, somewhat confusingly, he’s an English bloke with a nicely manicured beard and impeccable manners. After a decade and half of success with Delirious – who are performing their farewell shows this autumn – Stu kicked off a new phase in his creative life with a headline solo spot at the festival’s Performance Café.
The venue – glammed-up, this year, with a chandelier and fairy lights – is crammed with expectant festival-goers who give the guitarist an affectionate, noisy welcome. The set is nicely judged: smart, intimate interpretations of Delirious songs (Rollercoaster and Investigate, rarely played live with the band, sound fresh) are set alongside some unpredictable cover choices. What’s not to like about a performer who can include Personal Jesus. Rhianna’s Umbrella and a Kanye tune in the same set? But the most revealing moment – and, for me a real highlight of this year’s festival – is a heartbreaking version of Beggar’s Prayer (originally written and recorded by Emiliana Torrini – buy it without delay). It sounds rich, bruised, melancholy and hopeful. The whole thing is delivered with a wit and the kind of vulnerable charisma that you don’t tend to see from lead guitar players of stadium rock bands when they step out alone. This debut marks the beginning of a potentially fascinating chapter: without the frame of five piece band, we get strong hints of songwriter ready to ask big questions of his audience and himself. Keep listening.

Either there’s been a change of heart or a change of plan within the Delirious camp. Having previously decided that they were going to carry their farewell tour themselves - choosing to perform each night for as long as possible without a support act - all that now seems to have changed. Today Delirious have announced that they will share the stage for their final ever performances around the UK with a band from whom nobody has heard a whisper since 1996. Their name? The Cutting Edge Band.

Made up of five eccentrically-hairstyled young men, The Cutting Edge Band made a name for itself back in the early nineties, despite only ever playing in sports halls and on village greens. Theirs was a raw, God-drenched message, one that shouted ‘I’m Not Ashamed Of The Gospel’ with undeniable force. Theirs was a delicate form of intimacy, one that talked about singing of God’s love forever, of being found in the river, of obsessions and a sound that was louder than the radio.

Says Delirious front man Martin Smith, ‘The Cutting Edge Band had something special about it. I remember the days clearly; there would be an atmosphere that you could cut with a knife as those evenings of abandoned worship bled into the night. There was a feeling that anything could happen, and most of the time it did.’

With tracks like ‘Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble’, ‘Lord You Have My Heart’ and ‘The Crucible For Silver’ – not to mention ‘The Happy Song’ – The Cutting Edge Band built up a reputation as a group who had plenty to say, and a hundred different ways in which to say it.

But what about returning to the stage after such a long absence? How do they feel about it? Nobody from the band was available for comment, but when pressed Martin did have this to say:

‘They’ll be fine. They might be a little rusty and nervous, but if you can get passed the bad hair and the weird clothes you’ll find a band who laid the foundations for everything that Delirious went on to become. Without The Cutting Edge Band, Delirious simply would never have come into being. Having The Cutting Edge Band open for Delirious each night of our farewell tour makes perfect sense: it pays tribute to the past and lays the foundation of upfront worship that we were built on.’

Album: HistoryMakers – Greatest Hits / plus limited edition
Release date: 6th November 2009
Format: CD and DVD

What A Day It Has Been

This Delirious story was never meant to be predictable. It was always only ever about ‘taking it wherever it goes’: responding to whatever it was God was doing through music that abandoned itself to Him. From those first days when the slogan started to make sense, Delirious have left a trail of question marks wherever they have gone.

But now the story ends. Or, rather, it changes hands. These are the days when the historymakers take the journey out themselves. The soundtrack splits and goes with them, wherever they go.

And so here comes the announcement about the release of the ultimate Delirious parting gift: the HistoryMakers Greatest Hits. In the cd-only format, fans get a fourteen-strong album that absolutely hums with energy. From Obsession to Rain Down, Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble to Our God Reigns, including – of course – HistoryMakers, an incredible career is celebrated in style.

And then there’s the limited edition. Add in another cd with another seventeen classic tracks (Deeper, Investigate, It’s OK), a DVD featuring every one of the band’s promo videos and a 52 page booklet that tells the story from beginning to end.

The band’s six-date farewell tour of the UK has already sold out in places, and the final days are proving to be every bit as loud and as full of purpose as the thousands that have gone before.
