It’s all new round here. No more of that Cybersmalltalk stuff: we’re kicking off with a new look to our random communications from the world of Delirious. Like it? Tell us. Hate it? Tell us too. In fact, just get in touch, will you? We like it when we talk…
Anyway, enough of the chat. Here’s what's on the coffee table.
The band are playing at Shepherd’s Bush again this Christmas. December 18th is the date, and you can get your tickets here. Expect to hear plenty of the new album, sing a couple of carols and be reminded that Martin’s actually quite a funny guy.
There’s an album on the way. OK, I got the title "Kingdom of Comfort" but apart from that I failed a bit here. I didn't get a full track list or get anything much more than a few grunts and glinting eyes out of them. They’re mixing right now, so expect the real deal to be out and about within a few months. [By the way, if you happened to be at Greenbelt this summer you would have heard a couple of the new ones. They kicked off with God Is Smiling – a nicely feisty affair. Expect more of the same...]
The site. As you can see the rumours are true: Little Jon has been working hard on the new version of delirious.co.uk – so hard that he’s had to pause his alternative career as a guerrilla evangelist. Anyway, the site’s a treat, with new features like the Living Room making it massively interactive. Now there plenty of good things for you to go on and check out, like a free download of that God Is Smiling track and the chance to go even deeper with band blogs and vblogs and more. Expect it all to grow and glo over the coming weeks as more people like you sign up and add to the content.
Cellist, musical genius and man with many, many tales to tell – Gerard le Feuvre – spoke to Tim Jupp after he spent time working on the new album Here’s what he had to say…
Tim: Gerard, you've had a bit of a history with us. Which albums have you played on? Any favourite tracks?
Gerard: I've played on a number of the your albums and enjoyed every track. The first time we met I was given a number of boxes of the most expensive chocolate. One of you had just had their wedding anniversary and couldn't get through them. Our friendship was cemented by music into the night, surfing on a wave of chocolate, and praising God for both.
Tim: Can you tell us about your cello-we’ve heard it’s pretty famous?
Gerard: My cello was made in Rome in 1710 by one of the greatest cello makers in history (David Tecchler). Both he and Stradivarius were awesome Christians and I live every day in the blessing of Tecchler's hopes and prayers. My cello is so great that I think it could play itself, whoever is holding it! It's hard for me to tell if this is true because I've done 30,000 hours practice, but on the other hand Stu G had a go on it last week and sounded pretty good.
Tim: What do you the rest of the time?
Gerard: I have a wife and 3/300 kids who I want to hang out with as much as possible. For a brief moment, when I thought I had time, I was the fourth fastest ‘Berrocca Bubbles’ internet computer game champion in the country but that glory has faded and I'm pretty sold on music and my family.
Tim: Gerard, you’ve just been at the studio to play on the new album. Can you tell us about the song you played on and what you reckoned to the other tracks you heard?
Gerard: I played on a track called Jesus How Sweet. I guess I've come to expect the guys to come up with awesome songs but I think one of the things that distinguishes Delirious from other groups is the depth of music and words. I definitely think How Sweet is one of the guys best songs - it's a song that just cuts to the chase. We need that today.

Martin and Anna are expecting another baby. I think this is their sixth – so maximum respect to the Mrs, who’s also rumoured to be writing a book. I’m guessing that the birth won’t be making it onto the webcam, but, hey, you never know...
There are a whole load of new UK gigs coming up this autumn on the band's Omisonic Tour. Depending on how you look at it there are between 8 and 11 dates, with venues ranging from sweaty basements to glorious cathedrals. Check the tour dates for details and tickets.
Talking of tickets, there are going to be quite a few of them available for the band’s forthcoming trip to Mumbai, India in January. Four million of them. Invited by Joyce Meyer to the four day event, the band will be playing their biggest ever audience. Nervous? How would you feel?
Back to less risky things, there’s now a chance for you to get your favorite Delirious tracks onto your mobile… new ringtones have been released here, and even include The Happy Song. Apparently the band have never quite come to terms with the way that people still seem to love its skippy little chorus, but being the nice boys they are they’ve agreed to give it a new lease of mobile life.
Talking of new things, the band have also brought out a new line of merchy stuff: some decent looking t’s and all that, along with some girl-friendly summer dresses. Someone forgot to tell them that summer’s been and gone, but it’s thought that counts and it’s always summer somewhere, eh girls?
There’s some talk of Fuseboxes going on too. It turns out that Stu Gs not going back to the old trade, but Stew Smith has been exercising the right side of his brain and there are a few old albums being beautifully repackaged, paired up and sold off at a tasty price. You’ve got Mezzamorphis and Glo, King of Fools and Live & In The Can, and then all the Cutting Edge EPs on a double cd. Click here for more.
OK, so we’re done now. It’s been fun.
