Welcome to a new page in the global trek that we all know as the Delirious journey. Every month cyber small talk will report back from D:HQ, putting you front and centre with one of the most intriguing bands around.

worldwide round-up
It's been a busy few months in D:land, with albums getting released all over the place. You all know about the new double live album Access:d, which is currently heading out of the stockroom at a tasty rate, as well as the North American new boy Touch, but you might have missed the release of Libertad. Translated as 'freedom' the album features Mr Smith churning out 12 of the best Cutting Edge tracks in Spanish. Apparently he's done a pretty decent job thanks to the help of our Mexican distributers. But this is no novelty album: the band already have a sound following in most of the 21 countries for whom Spanish is the official language. For Martin and the rest of the band this is all about access and getting the message out as far as possible.

The D:crew also enjoyed their first gigs in South Africa back in November. Jon, Stu G and Tim had already been to see at first hand the excellent work of Hope HIV, visiting an AIDS orphanage in Soweto in 2001. This time the whole band visited the project as well as making a whole load of new friends with gigs in Johannesberg, Cape Town and Durban. With as many as 5000 turning up to some of the gigs the chances of a return tour look good. Then again, the Great White Shark diving that Jon and Hutch did at the end of the trip might just be enough of an incentive on its own to have them returning.

A year on from the release of Glo in the Phillipines and things are going strong. At the launch party loads turned up to hear well known bands cover their favourite D:tracks. These days the songs are getting into the churches and everyone seems pretty pleased with the whole thing.

future plans
The future's looking bright for the boys as they knuckle down to a few months of studio time. Pre-Christmas has been spent demoing material, with studio time booked for the new year when the band will start for real on their next album. Exciting names are being mentioned as producers but we'll have more for you next month. Don't hold your breath for the album though; early plans are for a late 03 / early 04 release. Still, you know it'll be worth the wait.
North America gets Libertad released there on May 5th, with Access:d coming out there earlier on 7th April. The band will also be touring in 03: 25 dates in North America with Cathy Burton, Everyone and All Star United. June will see a trip to Australia for the Hillsong Conference with perhaps a few Asian dates thrown in for good measure. They'll be at all the best US festivals in the summer, getting home in time for the birth of Jon's second child in August and then having a rest. There'll be an Autumn UK tour that might spread over into mainland Europe.

news
On the personal tip manager and big boss man Tony Patoto is back with a, um, new back. He had a little op a few weeks back which left him lying flat on the bed for a month with only his mobile for entertainment. Poor lad. Stu G's got a dog. Damo the roadie and Rachael the office angel are married and so is tour manager Ian Cattle, to Missy who you might know from her days in Raze.

behind the scenes
